Conrinuing the series on Shalom this week…. Our youth minister did the preaching.

A Voice for You & A Midnight Cry – our Men’s Ensemble is amazing!

The Audio … I can’t figure out why there are so many glitches….

Isaiah 9:6-7; 53:5

The year was approx. 725 B.C. and the Northern Kingdom of Israel was faced with what would soon be an attack from the powerful nation of Assyria. It was 722 B.C. and the battle was drastically lopsided as the strong Assyrians over-ran the Northern Kingdom of Israel. … Everything was for the worst, but Isaiah said that there was hope!

Peace is found in knowing who Jesus is. … He is fully God and fully man. Why does this matter? … Because He is fully God, He is always in control and we don’t need to worry. … Because He’s fully man, He can relate to us and understand our pain. He was tempted just like we, only He didn’t give into temptation and sin.

Jesus is the wise counselor who gives direction. … This could also be translated as the wonder of a counselor. … The word wonderful is never used to describe any man in the Bible. Wonderful is only used to describe God. … I Corinthians 1:24 says

but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Jesus is the mighty warrior who brings victory. … He is the Hero God. … Does war really bring peace? It certainly did in one instance. Jesus went onto that battlefield facing Satan and defeated him once and for all, bringing peace to all who believe in Christ! … “Jesus brought peace as my defender.”

Jesus is the loving father who will never leave me. … He’s never too busy for His children. He loves us and wants to spend time with us. … He brings peace and comfort when we need it, but He also disciplines us.

Jesus is the provider of everlasting peace. … He is the Prince of Peace. He will bring peace to everyone between everyone.

Peace is sustained through knowing what Jesus will do. (Isaiah 9:7)

He will reign completely (Isaiah 9:6)

He will reign Eternally. (Isaiah 9:7)

He will reign powerfully. (Isaiah 9:7)

Satan may roar, but Jesus will reign!

Isaiah 53:5 – Look at the words used. Look at what Jesus went through for us so that we may have ultimate peace! … Isaiah. 50:6; Matthew 26:67-68; I Peter 2:24

Peace is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. … Can you sleep through the storm?

Sunday Sermon … Peace is Found in Trusting God

September 13th, 2009

I recorded the SS today and got it transferred to the computer easily. It sounds good for being recorded on a little digital voice recorder. :) … I’m uploading it to YouTube as well as two songs I recorded. :) There’s really nothing visual about them though, just audio. … The Sermon part 1a, part 1bpart 2, part 3. :)

Isaiah 26:3

This verse has a big meaning. … Let’s look at what soe of these words mean.

Perfect Peace is literally shalom shalom. It means deep peace or constant peace. … How do we get perfect peace? Well, it has nothing to do with material possessions. People who are rich with worldly stuff almost always want more stuff because, unless they know Christ and His peace, they’re concerned they don’t have enough. … Let’s look at the word mind.

Mind means the direction of your thoughts. (Genesis 6:5) … In Genesis 6:5 the word inclination is the same as the word mind in Isaiah 26:3 … To have perfect peace you must control your thoughts. (This is very hard to do. The devil will always be trying to make us falter somehow.)

Steadfast means to lay, to rest, to lean, or to brace. … Perfect peace comes by trusting in something solid. (Isaiah 26:4) Christ is the rock eternal! I don’t know about you, but that’s where I want to stand, on a sturdy rock that will las for eternity! … Man-made structures fall apart eventually, but Christ the Solid Rock will stand forever.

There are four directions your mind can take:

  1. You can lean on something other than God. (Isaiah 31:1) Woe to them. … That doesn’t sound too pleasent does it?
  2. You can lean on nothing. (Isaiah 30:12-13) Nothing we do will be anywhwere near as dependable as God. … I don’t know about you, but I can only stand for so long.
  3. You can try to lean on both God and other things. (James 1:5-8) But it doesn’t work. We can only serve one master.
  4. You can heavily/fully/completely lean on God. (Isaiah 26:3) And this one works! This direction leads to shalom shalom!

Savior – Disciple

September 12th, 2009

I love the message of this song. No matter how much I love and care about my family and friends, Jesus loves them and cares so much more.
Sometimes that’s what I need to cling to.

Sunday Sermon … Peace is Found in Rightousness

September 7th, 2009

I tried to record the audio of the sermon this week, but the audio sounded bad when I finally got it on the computer… I’ll try to get the church’s recording on here later…

This week marks the start of a new series entitled Shalom – Finding Peace and Wholeness in a Stress-Filled World

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your Grace Still Amazes Me – True, true. :)
As thw Deer (You Alone Are My Heart’s Desire) – Indeed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Stress … Sometimes it’s like being pulled in a thousand directions at once. … The USA has been described as “One Nation Under Stress.” … Reader’s Digest did a study and said that 75% of people go to the doctor because of stress related issues. … Why does it seem everyone is so stressed out?

Have you ever heard the word Shalom? It’s Hebrew. We normally translate it as meaning “peace.” But it means more than just peace. … Shalom means peace, safety, contentment, tranquility, wholeness, and harmony. … It’s more than the absence of the negative. It’s the presence of the positive. … One might say it’s the presence of God…

We have a choice to make. … Shalom or Stress?

Isaiah 32:17 – The effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence. … Shalom or Stress?

<br />

Isaiah 48:17-18 – Isaiah call God the Holy One of Israel. … Holiness = wholeness. If you pay attention to God’s commands, you will have peace like a river. … You know what an integer is? It’s a positive or negative whole number and zero (i.e. -2,-1,0,1,2). It comes from a Latin word that literally means “untouched.” Know what has the same root word? Integrity. If someone has integrity, than that person is usually honest and has a good life, full of peace. … Shalom or Stress?

Isaiah 57:19-21 -  There is no peace for the wicked. … Like clothes in a washing machine, the wicked are tossed around and do not get to rest until the cycle is over. … Shalom or Stress?

Isaiah 59:8 – They do not know peace because there is no justice in their paths. There is no righteousness in their paths. … Shalom or Stress?

Let’s say someone (we’ll call the person John Doe) does something that’s will get him in major trouble if someone finds out. Now let’s say that John is asked whether or no the incident happened. … Mr. Doe now has two choices. To tell the truth or to lie. … Let’s say the he lies and gets away with it. Now there’s no physical punishment for John, but now he must continue to lie and lie and lie…and lie just to cover up the original lie. He also has to change the subject whenever anything related to the incident comes up in a conversation because he’s uncomfortable. … But what if he tells the truth? Well, he may be punished physically somehow, but mentally and emotionally and spiritually will be much better over the long run. … I’ll ask one more time… Shalom or Stress?
