Default Christmas Day of Advent--Jesus

Christmas Day
Jesus

The angel announced to Joseph that Mary was with child, carrying a son who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and his name was to be Jesus.

Matthew 1:20-23

20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel”

(which means, God with us). (ESV)

The angels were also present at the Birth of Jesus. The angels announced to the shepherds where they could find Him and how they would know it was Jesus.

Luke 2:8-14

The Shepherds and the Angels

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” [1] (ESV)

I found this poem that I would like to share. I hope it brings a smile to you as it did to me..

The Angel's Wish

The tiniest angel so gentle and neat
Played in God's heaven and always was sweet...
But she had a wish down deep in her heart
That her wings would grow and she could take part

In the wonderful news, she heard that day...
How a brilliant star would light the way
To Bethlehem, where on this very nigfht
The angels would gather and sing their delight.

Joy reigned in heaven...God's Son would be born
In Bethlehem's stable, ere the next morn.
God saw the wish in His wee angle's heart
And gave her the wings so she could take part.

It was the tiniest angel of all
Who hovered right over the manger stall.
She watched o'er the holy Babe in His bed,
While high in the sky, a star overhead
Pointed the way for the shepherds to trod...
To find and to worship the son of God.

What a wonderful day for all of us. The magnitude of this event from a tiny Babe to our Lord and Savior or King of Kings and we still await His coming AGAIN!

Isaiah 9:6

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon [1] his shoulder,
and his name shall be called [2]
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (ESV)

What a gift from God and how great His Love for us all. Let the Earth Receive Her King!

For the Beauty of the Earth

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For Thyself, best Gift Divine
To the world so freely given,
For that great, great love of Thine,
Peace on earth and joy in heaven:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

Folliot S. Pierpoint (1835-1917)

May all have a very Blessed Christmas ever!
