John 14:6 

 

Our culture likes the idea that there are many ways to Heaven. The idea is that as long as you are genuine and sincere in whichever religion you follow, you will go to Heaven. Or as long as you are a good person, you will go to Haven. In John 14:6, Jesus makes a definite statement that dismisses this idea altogether. Jesus is the only way. 

 

Four Reasons Why Jesus is the Only One Qualified to Get You to Heaven

  1. Jesus is the only one who came from Heaven (John 3:13). … Jesus originally came from Heaven, and Heaven is His home. He is the only one to descend from Heaven and live on Earth. This gives Him a unique qualification to get you to Heaven. He's been there before and calls it home. 
  2. Jesus is the only one who lived a perfect life (2 Corinthians 5:21). … Nobody but Jesus has lived a sinless life. He is the only one to live on Earth without erring. He didn't lie, gossip, cheat, lust, or give into road rage. None of the other leaders of religions even try to claim this. Muhammed, Buddha, Confucius, Joseph Smith, and all others have sinned. No one compares to Jesus. 
  3. Jesus is the only one who paid for your sins (Romans 5:8). … Our sin is a debt we can never pay back on our own. The only way to cover the debt is with the pure, sinless blood of Christ. His blood covers up every sin we've ever committed, from cheating on a test to having awful thoughts to our worst actions. His blood covers it in full. This is why He died. All other spiritual leaders died, but they didn't sacrifice themselves for you. Only Jesus did. 
  4. Jesus is the only one who defeated death (Revelation 1:17b-18). … He is the only one to die for our sins, and He is also the only person to die, come back to life, and never die again. When Jesus was sacrificed and went into the grave, he came back with the keys. He defeated death and took the keys. No one else has defeated death. When other spiritual leaders have died, they have stayed dead. Some people have come back from being medically dead, but then they die later on. Jesus raised Lazarus, but Lazarus died again. Only Jesus has risen from the dead and never died again. 

 

The doctrine that Jesus is the only way to Heaven may sound harsh. It can be perceived as unloving when we tell this to others, but it is really one of the most loving things we can do. If we neglect to tell others, we let them continue on the path to Hell and eternal damnation. However, if we reach out and share the way with them, we offer them a path to Heaven and eternal life in the presence of God in Heaven.
